Truck is cranking slow hard to start. Went to Advance this AM had the batteries tested. One failed and I replaced it with the 800 cold cranking amps bat. The other one showed good with 647 amps out of 700. When I turn the key it still sounds like 2 bad batteries. I will check the connections in the AM. Can the starter be bad? Any help is appreciated. TIA.
Yes the starter could be going out. They have a tendency to slow down as they age. I bet you would be shocked at how fast a new starter will spin the engine over. By the way, your batteries may be a little small. They should be 850 CCA if I remember right.
Check the connections this morning all good, purchased and installed a NEW starter from Advance. Cranks so fast I thought it was gonna spin the flywheel off. I should have change it a long time ago. Thanks for the help!
Since you are such a good customer at advance now, I would go back and try to trade in the battery for a higher amp one 850 or higher then buy another so you will have two the same. As mentioned earlier it is recommended to always replace two at the same time. I have also heard it's good to try and get them with the same production date code. I think that must be because the parts they use in the production process could possibly be different coming from another supplyer or other reasons IDK just something i would consider. Just my 02, glad you got it spinning good now.
^^^^^ This. BTW, you can get pretty-much everything at Advance at 30% just about anytime. Order online, choose in-store pickup (if your store carries it), enter TRT30 for the promotion code. Advance just opened in Madison a few years ago, and I've shopped there for about a year and I don't think I've ever paid full retail.
