2.3 EB impressions

We have the 2.3 in our new Lincoln. We have 4400 miles or so on it now.

Runs good and on our recent trip with AWD it returned a solid 24.5. Speeds were as high as 80 thru parts of Mo and Ok.

Downshifting on the hills was very little.

Since it is new I am assuming that it wont continue..It used 1/2 qt of oil.

Has anyone else bought this motor yet?

Scott, is that the new MKC?
I'm assuming you're still on the factory's oil, right? I'm impressed with the styling of the MKC, and the MKZ sedan in fact. If I could only convince the wife to look past the name...she has a stigma about Lincoln...so that when it's time to pull her out of her Acura I could sway her this way.

Sub'ing as I'm curious to see your further impressions on this engine.

Yes, we got the MKC. We have been looking at the MKX and were strongly going to buy it. Then I saw the MKC and I liked the HVAC controls better..and the updated tech.

We liked the way it sat and the color choices so that won us over.

We are on the factory oil so hopefully the lost of oil was just due to the breaking in of the motor. I think so.

Senix, all new engines use a little oil on break-in.
Also subbing for updates on longevity, I kinda really want a new mustang with the 2.3 EB...

My only impressions are what I've read about it from C&D mag. If the engine is as much of a scream as the mag states and if it holds up as well as my 3.5L, it'll be one hell of an engine. This engine is laying down over 310 HP which is what the outgoing 5.4L V-8 is putting down.

Scott,

I hope you keep us in the loop as the engine matures. I'd love for you to report incremental MPG increases as she gets more miles behind her and any growing pains that you may incur along the way. Though I doubt that she'll be problematic.

When you bought the car, did your dealer suggest how often to change the oil? Would you be so kind as to let us know how often you plan to have it changed?

Ford says the 3.5L can go to 10K or when the OLM says to dump it. I dump mine religiously between 5K and 6K no matter what. Even though the turbos and the oil filter block are water jacketed and better cooled than ever, it's still putting out a ton of heat and oil is cheap.

There was no recommendation from the dealer for the oil change. It does have the minder but I am going off of a 5K change for now.

That is what I told them.

As part of Lincoln now they give free maintance for a couple of years.
