Exhaust manifold or headers?? Help
Exhaust manifold or headers?? Help
Ok I have a 4 speed 78 f150 ranger 4x4 i have had it like two and a half weeks spent more in parts then i did for the truck itself so far and nothing has been easy at all. I swapped out 351 windsor with what i thought was a blown head gasket turned out to be someone installed head gasket upside down or backwards whichever you chose to call it.. That pissed me off because by the time I had discovered that I had the 400 put in already. I had to buy a new starter,12 inch heavy duty clutch, distributor, battery, plug and wires, luckily the carb worked from the windsor. Ok sorry I am venting anyway I bought headers for the 400 which has manifolds on it now. The reason I bought them is because I was trying to save money and use as many parts that I already had and previous owner had straight pipes with glass packs off headers but headers from windsor would not fit so i bought new ones that would. For two reasons I am thinking of just saying screw it and buying the y pipe and leaving rusted manifolds on. Reason number one this truck has kicked my butt and bolts look like they will break off if i try and loosen them and number two because I have heard the headers might not even fit and people have had a hard time finding ones that do> any experienced owners who know the best thing to do please let me have your suggestions.
