Thinking...

So I've been looking through craigslist for quite a while to find an IDI and they normally run like 2000 at least and this one pops up for 700 anyone think this is a good idea to go for, have opinions on what I should look for, what I should ask or anything like that

parts truck, or do you want to put it on the road??
with no title you are going to have to inquire at your state DMV about what needs to be done to get a title to put it on the road.

here in New jersey a truck without a title is a parts truck only, DMV will not issue you a title unless you are the last registered owner.

Looks like a good deal if you don't mind doing some wrenching. The ZF is nearly worth what he's asking for that truck.

Like Tom mentioned, check your state's laws on missing titles. Some states are pretty strict about that. Seller mentions something about a bonded title so it sounds like Texas does have a way out for you.

About the only good thing I can say about California DMV, lost title is not an issue at all, just have to have a Certificate of Lost Title signed by the PO and it's as good as a title.

I have an uncle that lives in New Braunfels, moved there from California some years back, really likes it in Texas.

If it's actually worth it I'd like to put it on the road Getting a new title won't be very hard

@chevyeater how long has your uncle been in NB? I never thought I'd see any one here in NB. With an IDI

the engine could be worth his asking price alone.
$500 seems to be the low end, with 1-1.5k being the upper.
the cab looks like its probably an easy $400
the bed could be another $400
the rear axle $100-200
the front should an easy $100-200
the frame should be good for $200
the trans should be an easy $500
t-case $100
there should be a few hundred more in decent salvageable parts.

those are conservative, quick selling part out prices that most of us would all love to see when in need.

I kind of doubt he even knows what an IDI is. He's not exactly a youngster anymore either, he moved out there when he retired, probably close to 10 years now.

Looks to be a decent deal, I'm always cautious of no title, but not a huge deal what with the asking price. With the ZF-5, I'd definitely be over there looking at it with serious intent to purchase.
