I am changing / flushing the coolant and was hoping to do it today. I only have 21 liters of demineralised water and was wondering if it would be ok to use bottled drinking water for the first couple of flushes?
Demineralised water is not readily available here (would you believe it?) and I can't get any more until Thursday but have a long tow From Portugal to France commencing Wednesday and was hoping to get the coolant changed before I left.
Actually only the final flush needs distilled water. Common tap water can be used for chemical flushing or primary flushes. If your local water has heavy mineral content [hard water] there is a laundry water softner product called calgon that works well.
Cheers for that. The water here is loaded with lime, that wrecks everything... I actually managed to find some distilled water in a supermarket. They must have thought I was a bit odd, clearing their shelves of 50 litres of the stuff A massive €18.5 ($15). I can live with that.
