61 F350

Just purchased this truck, has the 292 motor. It had set for 10 years. I freshened it up, and drove it 500 miles home. Ran like a top. The next day I take it into town, and I notice the RPM is a little unstable. I stop to go into the store. When I come out, it starts a little harder than usual. I get a couple of blocks, and it quits. Seems like ignition. I can smell fuel, and looking into the carb, it squirts fuel with throttle movement. The coil, points, condensor, cap, rotor, wires, and plugs are new. It finally did start up, but as soon as I touch the throttle it wants to quit. I am in nuetral, not trying to drive it. I can't get above idle. I mean as soon as I touch the gas it falls on its face. I am thinking points, but not sure why. What do you think? Timing appears to be spot on. I put vacuum to the advance, and it is free. Any ideas? Thanks. It is a stick.

I would suspect a vacuum leak, based on your description, especially with old rubber hoses or other rubber parts deteriorating.
Second, I would look for a loose distributor (or loose ignition parts), causing the timing to be work its way out of specifications. Check the quality of your spark, it should be sharp bright and blue.
Sounds like fuel isn't an issue.

How old was the gas and have you replaced the fuel filter?

Don't rule out condenser. I know you say it is new and that is good, but even brand new ones have been known to be bad and cause just about exactly the issues you are describing. Something to be aware of, anyway.
