2000 f-250 v10 overdrive light flashing
I bought a 2000 Ford F-250 with the v-10 in it with 250,000 miles. When I bought the truck it would not go into overdrive. The overdrive light just blinks but will not go into OD. transmission shifts good for the most part but sometimes shifts hard into second and third. The check engine light came on and the code was a speed sensor. Does anyone have any insight on this issue? I bought the truck cheap, so im not to worried if I have to put some work into it. The motor itself runs real strong, any help would be great

There is a speed sensor on the rear differential and when that goes out you will have harsh shifts and other issues. Fortunately it’s fairly cheap to replace so it’s what I would try first to rule it out.
Does your speedometer work? If not then it is definitely the one on the differential (or the wiring). But it still might be bad even if the speedometer seems to be working. I believe there is also one on the transmission that could also be your cause.
With all that said, your most reliable source of information would be to get it scanned by someone that has a scanner that can read the codes in the transmission. The OD light is blinking for a reason because there are codes stored that will probably tell you what’s wrong. Just be aware that the simple OBD scanners they use at your normal Auto parts chain most likely won’t be able to read your transmission codes.
BTW - Welcome to FTE! Stick around and you will learn a lot from a very helpful group of people. I know I have!

first 3 codes are transmission lockup clutch which means big dollar repairs, the rest are engine vacuum leaks and o2 sensors
