Hi. When I push the lever down on the steering column going into the ignition nothing happens except for the heater working and battery gauge working. I've replaced the switch. It doesn't make a sound to turn over either. Or does it try to. It's on a 1985 ford 4.9
after replacing the turn signal switch I noticed the bushing between the upper bearing and the steering wheel is gone. Its part # 13B301 and I cant find one does any one know the dimensions of this bearing to replace it . Its actual name is turn signal control bushing retainer. This is on a 1986 f250

Remove the small red/blue-stripe wire from the starter solenoid and connect that wire to a voltmeter (the other voltmeter wire goes to ground). Turn the key to START (or actuate the switch by moving the rod, in your case) and you should see battery voltage at that wire; this is what actuates the starter motor solenoid.
That red/blue wire may be interrupted by a Neutral Safety Switch, which also needs to be closed for power to flow through it.
