My 91 has 205k on it. Whenever I get into the bed of the truck it seems really soft compared to my 89 f150 long bed with 120k on it.
Now when I loaded the truck up with about 6-700 lbs it seems to squat much lower than it should. Maybe this is normal for a half ton? Also I do have drop shackles. Also where do you guys like to purchase your leaf springs from?
It could definitely be a combination of the fact that you have drop shackles along with worn out springs. Even with it being a half ton shouldn't make you squat as bad as your describing.
Have you thought about changing out the shackles along with new springs. That would basically give you springs that will be the stock weight capacity from what it was like from factory and also give you stock ride height.
I put drop shackles to lower the rear a bit. Didnt really notice too much of a difference. But i am wanting to replace the springs here in the future. Plus the bushings on the front of the pack are all wore out.
Eventually i plan on lowering this truck and when that happens im probably going to install a helper bag setup so the frame wont ride on the axle or anything if i have a load.
