I am looking to add a couple of extra gauges to the monster for some extra assurance. I was thinking about vacuum, volts and trans. temp. Would anybody suggest anything different or think that it is not neccessary?
Truck is an 02 with a V10.
I know its not quite as cool as a gauge pod. But look into a scangauge II. It monitors a huge amount of stuff with 4 on the screen at a time, I monitor trans temp, water temp, cylinder head temp, and intake temp (as a guide for outside temperature). Cost me 150$ for the unit and 7$ for a thin steel plate and suction cups to make a mount for the windshield.
Thanks again for all of the info. I have decided that I am going to add the scangauge II first and then from there any other gauges I may need that it does not cover. Can anybody post pics of the scangauge mounted?
I took flat stock steel and bent it into a shape that would work for me. drilled homes in the back and added suction cups. Had held for about 2 years with no issues. All for about 8$ or so
I had a ScanGuage on both of my trucks... Nice device, easy plug n play. No picture, but I velcroed it where the upfitter switches would be on a 2011 F250.
Fast forward to today... Consider one of the WiFi OBD2 devices, and a smartphone. I now use my iPhone to monitor many more OBD2 available signals, all on customizable screens. Check out DashCommand, and the WiFi devices. Total of about $55 with hardware and extended codes.
I should note that the ScanGuage does not support transmission temp, and I have not tried the (supported) trans temp with DashCommand.

Trans temp is the main reason I use the scan guage in my 04 v10

Maybe my scanguage is too old, it definitely does not have trans temp as an available gauge. For years I used it in my 97 F150 manual, so I obviously didn't need a trans gauge. I hoped it would work on my 2011 F250, but it doesn't. Great device... Apparently it has been updated.
