Oil drain plug and gasket ??

The things you find on a used truck..

I decided since I had the time this weekend I'd do a oil change on my new too me truck..

what I found was this..

1) oil drain plug was over torqued and had to be loosened with a damn breaker bar
2) oil filter was over torqued had to remove it with a strap wrench (crushed the filter BTW)
3)no gasket on the drain plug

Of course once I drained the oil I obviously can't move the vehicle so I had to reinstall the drain plug w/o a gasket and as expected its seeping a little oil..

According to the window sticker Kost Tire did the last service..

That tells me all I need to know right there, how that hack shop has stayed in business as long as they have is beyond me..

[rant over]

I see NAPA lists a couple different drain plugs and gaskets for a 5.4L, what size plug did Ford use and rubber or copper for the gasket ??

Here's your plug with gasket. I recently bought a Fumoto valve and replaced the original plug so I don't have to ever remove the drain plug again.

List: Search for 'oil drain plug' | O'Reilly Auto Parts

yes sir, thats exactly what I'm doing now with all the fluids, I also changed out the air filter which was a mess....Previous owner was a farmer who pulled a horse trailer with it, must have lived on a dirt road by the looks of things..

Fumoto is useless and just takes longer to change your oil, but good for fixing damaged threads.

Why is it useless? Works great on my 6.7, keeps it in the drain bucket and not on the drive way.

Say what? I'm not sure "useless" is accurate. I'm not in a race when changing oil. Use clear tubing directly off of the valve right into my 5 gal container.

Is there something I'm missing with your comments?

I just don't like them. I can hit my drain pan every time, it takes 5 seconds to remove the plug, I never drop the plug in the pan, and it drains very fast.

A dainty any amount. I guess you could go eat lunch and then come back to it on a diesel.

If slow drainer is the only fault, I can live with that. I let it drain 30 mins or more anyhow. Whats the price on these?
