My brother just picked up a 07 6.0, he said it has 114251kms (about 71k miles) and 4195 hours.
I am thinking with such low kms his truck spent a lot of time sitting/in a shop
It runs good from what I can see doesn't blow any black or white on startup. Its throwing a CEL but that is for the EGR (doesnt have a tuner)
Also has ARP head studs and iirc 07s got an improved oil cooler
Also, Doesn't seem to be leaking oil at all...I will crawl underneath it on the weekend to look closer though
Only averaging 17 mph is crazy. Something wrong there unless he's using it with a PTO. It would have to have spent, lots of time in the shop, but running!
Hardly reasonable.
I'd go back to the original owner for a better explanation first.
Pull the egr valve and see if it's stuck. Also check to ensure it's not wet, just dry soot. Replacing the egr valve is a 10 minute job if that's the cel code.
From my understanding it does have a egr delete done.
Okay I will get him to ask the PO
It is a 4wd rig cclb I don't see a PTO takeoff, it does have a trailer brake and bags installed on the rear leafs. It also has the bars under the box for camper tie downs
I think that only has to do with fuel mileage calculations. With a actual hour meter hours run are hours run. Ideling or hooked up really makes no difference the engine is still rolling over.
In the fleet we used aftermarket hour meters on everything because most of our trucks seldom move very far but run many hours each day. For ease of maintenance scheduals we went by engine hours, not miles traveled.
That is true but in our case all vehicles are rode hard and put up wet so to speak. Just a price of being in our buisness. We may only put 20 miles on a truck but it may runn 400 hours.
Stationary or trailer mounted equipment mileage has nothing at all to do with anything.
Even our PU Superdutys run more hours than they are driven for the most part.
In our particular circumstances hurs run are way more important to us than miles driven.
For vehicles with hours of idle time during the oil service interval, it's recommended to change the oil and filter every 200 hours.

I have 180,600 km and my hours are about 4000, average km/hr about 50. I idle a fair bit in the winter. At 118,000 and 4000 that's more like 30 km/hr, which is a lot more idling. This vehicle has idled a lot, it's probably a service vehicle of sorts, I can't imagine anyone idling that much who is paying for fuel.
Does it have hi idle mod on up fitter 4, e brake and park, it should idle up to 1250. This prevents wet stacking to some extent.
Mine burns about 1.9 gallons am hour on high idle. It's had a lot of fuel through it.
