I purchased a 2014 F250, used for about 3 months, but used. My problem is I cannot find the code to change the keyless entry to a personal one. I called the dealer that I bought it from only to find that first they could do it for $98 and when I questioned the charge, she said , oh, we cannot give it to you as that was an aftermarket item. The owners manual mentioned the card with the number on it but of course , no card .. previous owner probably has it. So does anyone know how I can get the code for changing it out. Can Ford Dealership do it ? This does not look like an aftermarket item.

Thing is I do not know what the factory code is, the card is missing that would have it on it.. someone said it would be somewhere else in the truck, possibly under the dash. I am assuming that the dealer can retrieve it since they wanted to charge me to get it before I told them I bought it at their dealership, then I was told they couldn't get it as it was an aftermarket item???

 

When I bought my 2011 SD Lariat, the dealer was a non Ford franchise. He had a scanner and plugged on to the OBD port and read the code...... No charge!

 

That is what I thought also, especially after Service was really eager to tell me how much it would cost first. There are other Ford dealers and non-dealers so now I will know where to go and what to ask.. I would even pay for it somewhere else but not the dealer that I bought the truck from. We are a Ford family, we have two F250's and the daughter has a new Lariat, other family members also own Fords, our MH is even on a Ford chassis.. so I will not let one dealership discourage me.

I bought my 2011 used and without the code. I found several articles (sorry... too long ago to remember where) that describe what module under the dash to find the factory code printed on. I found mine on a sticker just where it was described.... I belive it was way up under the dash near the column. I needed a flashlight and a small mirror.
The factory code (at least on 2011) is not changeable, one additional owner code can be programmed (or reprogrammed over).

On my 2005, the keyless entry module can be seen on the firewall if you drop down the driver side tray. The preset code is on the sticker on the face of it.

There are various discussions about it in this forum, and I'm not positive if the 2014 has it in the same location but assume it is the same general vicinity.

If you send me $98 I would be glad to go to a local dealer and look behind the dash on one of their 2014s to verify where it is

In regards to my dilemma , I got a phone call mid morning from the salesman that sold us the pickup. He told me to bring the truck in and they would 'reprogram' it so that I would have a number to use for my personal code. I asked if there was still a charge and he told me 'NO' , so maybe it will be settled but I am sceptical so I will be asking questions this time prior to the " reprogram"

If you have the nav screen I think you can change your code in there... might check the settings menu.

Programming a Personal Entry Code
To create your own personal entry code:
1. Enter the factory-set code.
2. Press 1·2 on the keypad within five
seconds.
3. Enter your personal 5-digit code. You
must enter each number within five
seconds of each other.
4. Press 1·2 on the keypad to save
personal code 1.
The doors will lock then unlock to confirm
that programming was successful.
To program additional personal entry
codes, repeat Steps 1-3, then for Step 4:
• press 3·4 to save personal code 2
• press 5·6 to save personal code 3
• press 7·8 to save personal code 4
• press 9·0 to save personal code 5.
You may also program a personal entry
code through the MyFord Touch system.
Tips:
• Do not set a code that uses five of the
same number.
• Do not use five numbers in sequential
order.
• The factory-set code will work even if
you have set your own personal code.

Erasing a Personal Code
1. Enter the factory-set 5-digit code.
2. Press and release 1·2 on the keypad
within five seconds.
3. Press and hold 1·2 for two seconds.
You must do this within five seconds
of completing Step 2.
All personal codes will erase and only the
factory-set 5-digit code will work.

Anti-Scan Feature
The keypad will go into an anti-scan mode
if you enter the wrong code seven times
(35 consecutive button presses). This
mode disables the keypad for one minute
and the keypad lamp will flash.
The anti-scan feature will turn off after:
• one minute of keypad inactivity
• pressing the unlock button on the
remote control
• switching the ignition on.

Unlocking and Locking the Doors
To Unlock the Driver Door
Enter the factory-set 5-digit code or your
personal code. You must press each
number within five seconds of each other.
The interior lamps will illuminate.
Note: All doors will unlock if you disable
the two-stage unlocking mode. See
Locking and Unlocking (page 56).

To Unlock All Doors
Enter the factory-set code or your personal
code, then press 3·4 within five seconds.
To Lock All Doors
Press and hold 7·8 and 9·0 at the same
time (with the driver door closed). You do
not need to enter the keypad code first.

Displaying the Factory Set Code
Note: You will need to have two
programmed passive anti-theft keys for this
procedure.
2. Switch the ignition off and remove the
key.
3. Insert the second key into the ignition
and switch the ignition on.
The factory-set code will display for a few
seconds.
Note: The code may not display until after
any other warning messages first display.
To display the factory-set code in the
information display:
1. Insert a key into the ignition and switch
the ignition on for a few seconds.

thanks, I will try this prior to taking it down to the dealership.. my son has the truck for a few days in Houston but will be back home on Saturday... thanks again for the help..

 

I think my son found the code for our truck , it was under the dash but just a question, when you found yours did it have a letter L after the 5-digit number , or maybe another letter depending on the year of the vehicle.

Problem fixed! Sales called and asked that I bring the truck in and they would take care of it.. when we got there yesterday, he came out with a small box in his hand, it was a new after market entry key pad with a new number. So it was after market after all.. but then some other trucks on the lot had the same keypad even tho some had a different look to them.
Salesman said he needed to find someone in the tech department to put it on as he didn't know how,, my son was with me and he is technically inclined, so the salesman handed it to him and said thanks and if you have a problem, come on back down.
No charge and no computer hook up...
