need engine temp and tranny temp gauge help
Guys i just got word i have to tow a 26 foot TT this weekend. I am fairly new to this truck only had for 3 months. I need to get and install a tranny temp gauge this week and for pice of mind towing. While im at it why not do a engin temp gauge too. Whats the easyist way to install both?
can you trust the 3 gauge pods from pep boys or auto zone?

You get what you pay for, (usually).
Trans temp gauge is a good idea when towing with an E4OD. They do not like heat. There is a factory temp sensor in the transmission for the EECIV, but no gauge. I think there is an extra threaded port near where the sensor threads in if you want to add a gauge. Others plumb a sender into the pan, requires removing the pan and welding on a bung. Gauge choice is your preference. SW is good, Autometer is good, but pricey. Look for something easily mounted. 270 sweep is nice.
Does your truck not have a factory engine temp gauge? Sure, there are better gauges, but the factory one is adequate, reliable, and already there. Not sure what you will gain here.

It does have a factory engin temp but im used to having multiple gauges like my old dodge had. 
just like the back up. I guess i dont truse the factory temp gauge.
I have heard about the threded temp port. i think thats the way ill go for now. do a extra filter and in line mechanical gauge later.
How would you add a temp gauge any ideas?

Temperature sensors need constant flow over them for an accurate reading. That port on the transmission is meant for testing line pressure, not temp, but it apparently does work. You'd screw the sensor into the pressure test port or a bung welded to the pan and then wire it to the gauge along with power and lighting circuits.
For engine temperature, I'd just yank the factory gauge sensor and replace it with an aftermarket one. When you have time, you can go back and set it up so that both sensors are used if you don't like the dash gauge to be inop.
