Uppipe replacement time.

Sorry I haven't been on in a while. i miss my brothers.. LOL.
Anyway i have a high pitched squeal every morning on first start up between 1500 to 2k RPM. It go's away after about two or three minutes. I have checked everything and did a leak test. I have black soot on the firewall so i am about 99% sure the squeal is from the up pipes. It's more of a vacuum intake squeal than a metal squeal. I have new the dorman up pipes and a turbo o-ring/bolt kit. For the life of me i can't remember who had the write up on how to replace the up pipes and turbo re-installation... this is the only time i can afford for the truck to be down for a few days..

Top of the page under common mods/maint. Go down to Springerpops maintenance write ups. Not to bad of a job, just don't waste time trying to remove things like bolts by soaking with penetrating oil, your going to throw out all that stuff anyway. Careful use of a sawsall and cutoff wheel will make it so much easier. I had my old pipes off in about 30 min. Have fun and good luck.

edit, 30 min. not counting removing the turbo.

A dremel tool with the snake cord and a cut off wheel works awesome for cutting those rusty bolts out. And a sawzall to cut the uppies off the babes butt. Ive done my truck and one other and those two things made the entire process go WAY faster and a lot easier.

And don't forget when installing the new ones...... just get every thing finger tight first and all lined up before torquing anything down.

Thinking out loud here, but would you want to use some anti seize on the bolts?

Antiseize on the collector and down pipe for sure, attach the up pipes loose and get the collector to turbo lined up and tight first before cranking down the uppipes. Hardest part IMHO is getting the collector right and getting the spider back in place.

I anti-seized all my bolts nuts etc.
The collector is probably the most challenging on the install.

As for the spider reinstall put one boot on the plenium and one on the spider then slide it on.
