I am going to look at a 1976 F250 Supercab truck tomorrow. The present owner say's it has a 390 4 barrel/ C6 engine/trans in it. I had thought that the 360/390 FE series engines had been phased out by 1976, but heck, I don't know everything! Anyone like to weigh in on this question?? Thanks! Dale
it should be a 390. the few 76 supercabs ive seen were FE. from what ive read they started using the 400m motors in 77 in the light duty trucks which was used supposed to be a more economical alternative to FE's and 460s. ive seen the M's in 78 79 supercabs ive owned. ive seen 460's in the later ones as well. 1976 was the last year for FE like dude above states.

Is it a 390? On sale day, 360's magically become 390's!
360/390's cancelled at the end of the 1976 model run. There is no such thing as a 400M, it's just plain 'ol 400.
351M/400's introduced in 1977 F100/350's & 1978/79 Bronco's.
