Is shimming my bronco's body the right idea?
ok, so I have been sloooowly replacing the front clip on my bronco (there is a link below if you like to read) but even after replacing the trashed factory body mounts, I still can't seem to get the front of the fenders low enough to get the door/fender gap right, I had the thought today that i could just shim the body up, which would be a pain to unbolt and raise the body again, but is it the right idea? and how far can i go? I see that there are 1/8" shims, but can i go with 1/4 or 5/16" if needed? where should i begin to worry? and how can i figure what i would need to start with or is it a guess?
thanks for any advice.

Simply put, yes shimming is the answer. Over time the body mounts deteriorate and the body sags. As long as your bolts are long enough, shim away.
"In theory", you could thin the front mounts on a belt grinder being careful not to overheat. Another option would be to pick the two best mounts you removed and reuse them for the front.

ok guys I am bringing this back from the dead after pulling the bronco back out of mothballs.
i have cut the radiator supports mounts down to what i would call the minimum, and while its much closer, its still not quite there, and im at the point that i'm going to have shim the body up. so my question is what is the limit if i shim the front cab mounts before i need to shim the next set of cab mounts? lol, I don't want binding issues or any problems with sealing for the top or doors. but if i can get away with not having to shim the entire thing up it would be nice for time, but not if i will pay for it later.
however i might just go ahead and cut out 1/4' thick washers for the whole thing.
