Chassis swap anyone ?
According to some unsubstantiated rumor, innuendo and speculation, I should be able to swap a 64 Cab, onto a 65-66 frame.
The candidate is a 64 SWB F100.
The donor Chassis is a 66 F250 4x4.
Thanks,

1966 F250 4WD uses the same cab you have now. However the 4WD cab may have the cab supports in a different location on the frame.
1961/64 F100/1100 - 1965 F100/250 4WD - 1965/66 F350/1100 - 1966 F250 4WD
No cab step: 1965/66 F100/250 2WD & 1966 F100 4WD
---------------------------------------------------------------
1957/60 Styleside beds were also installed on the following 1961/66's. Called the "wrong" beds, because the cab lines don't match the bed lines.
1961/65 F100/250 4WD - 1961/66 F350 - 1962/63 F100/250 2WD - 1966 F250 4WD
1964/66 F100/250 2WD & 1966 F100 4WD use different Styleside beds...that match the cab lines.
So if I read that correctly, a 64 F100 4x and a 1966 F250 4x would be a bolt-on upgrade chassis for my 64 SWB ?
The end game, is that my Cab and bed. glass, doors, hood, doghouse are ALL in fantastic shape and in primer. But I really would prefer an updated suspension, and it's a lot more work on a 64 chassis, than on a 65/66 TIB chassis. (or at least, the options are more plentiful.)
Of course it's all work, but all things considered it's a pretty big upgrade up to a 65/66 chassis.

Dave (garbz2) will know for sure.
But you're not getting a better suspension upgrade by using this '66 F250 4WD's frame, as it has leaf spring front suspension just like 1961/64's have.
Twin-I-Beam coil spring front suspension introduced in 1965 F100/250 2WD.
F100/250: All 1961/64 F100/250 2WD's have front leaf springs, as do 1961/65 F100 4WD's & 1961/79 F250 4WD's.
I might be stuck with the solid axle then. I'd really like to modernize the front end without butchering it, since the truck is 100% original. I'd like to keep it stock'ish or resto'mod.
decisions decisions. There sure are a ton of CV P.I. in the yard by my house tho.

1964 F100 6 1/2' short bed has a 114" wheelbase / 1966 F250 4WD's were only available with an 8' Flareside or "wrong" Styleside beds, so its wheelbase is a different length (longer) than your '64 F100.
