1997 f250 7.3 hd I have developed a fuel leak around my fuel filter. It leaks around the bottom of the thing my finger is on. What is it called and is there an o-ring I need to replace to make the leak stop?
Any input is appreciated TIA!
That fitting is a restriction sensor I believe. I wouldn't tighten it too much cause you could crack the housing. You could remove the fitting ant try some thread sealer but odds are it's leaking through the sensor. I think you can also just use a plug and eliminate it
Correct, fuel filter restriction switch. No O-ring; it's NPT (plumbing) thread, i.e. the threads act as the seal. +1 on DO NOT overtighten. You could try some pipe joint compound on it (Gasoila, etc.) and re-installing. If it's the switch itself that's leaking, one option is to replace it with an NPT plug. This switch only turns on the "FUEL FILTER" dash light; no interface with the PCM or anything else in the truck.
