Need help identifying this part

went for a ride the other day and when I got home I noticed this part sitting on the running board. I'm assuming it wasn't there on the ride so im guessing it rolled out when I open the door, its about 2.5" long and I haven't a clue what it could be. any help would be appreciated.
thanks
mike

Hmmm, interesting
I've never seen anything like it. The part looks new, what have you replaced on the truck recently?

Is it metal or plastic?

I was going to say it looks like it might have a piece in the spring end and would snap in between something like a toilet paper roll holder. But I like avf100's take on it as well.

One of those things that makes you go "hmmm".

What kind of seats do you have? I'm guessing they're not stock and this is a broken adjuster/slide/return spring, and the plastic surround is a guard or noise reducer.

My SWAG, someone walked by the truck and saw it layin' by the truck and, said to them selves, "old truck, that part must have fallen off, I'll put it on the running board". No, I don't recognize it.

YES YOU DO!!!! Go to your local coffee shop and order your free latte! Of course like most contests there will be a small shipping and handling charge of about 5.00 or so depending on how much they pay the guy to carry it from the coffee machine to the counter.
