So has anyone actually bought and used the Mattracks wheel system? I'm interested in putting a set on my 69 f250 for snow time fun. Was wondering if anyone has experience with them and if they're worth the money, or if there's maybe a similar more economical solution I don't know about
I think a set of really big tires would be almost as good for a lot cheaper.
Meh.. trax have more surface area than tires so trax have better weight distribution per square inch. Think of it like snow shoes for a truck. Capiche?
^ good point. But I can't see the cost being justified unless REALLY DEEP snow is the only thing you ever have. Not that I have much experience with that cold wet white crap. Haha
They are used by a few of the ski areas around here. I know Sunshine Village (Sunshine Village) had a couple of pickups, and at least one excursion on those.
Yea tracks are great on the snow, But on a normal truck??? I just don't know if they're worth it.
What is a normal truck??? aren't they all just normal trucks until someone adds the goodies they like to a normal truck which makes it different?
I guess because your younger you see it as the cost factor. Where as the older you get you see it as a fun mobility factor not the cost factor..
Remember old saying he who has the most toys when his time comes wins.
I'd think this would be on the bucket list living in the snowy part of the country.
Yrs ago had a redneck type friend with a lifted bronco with big 38" tires that was great off roading & rock crawling. He thought those big azz tires would be great in the snow. Well did the same as that Hummer and needed pulling out.

I have had mattracks both on my wheelchair (when I first came home from the military and they thought i'd never walk again) google tank chair, And I had a set on my Avalanche. I loved them could do almost anything with them. but the tracks are hell to replace. I wouldn't recommend them on an older truck because of the stress the add to them and you mpg drops big time.
Not really worried about MPG, they would be on a big block F250. I deffinatly don't drive it for the gas mileage lol. And when I do go play In the snow it is commonly several feet deep (5-12ft) commonly. I've been doing ok in a jeep wrangler, it's pretty easy to push around if it looses traction. But it's difficult to bring pals and equipment with in such a tiny rig.
