I just got a kick out of it. People do funny things when they hate something.
Way back when I was a kid my parents purchased a new pop up camper that was just whooped from shipping/storage but the dealer showed zero support. So for most of my childhood we pulled a camper that was covered in bright yellow lemons that had an issue/problem listed on each. My dad took pictures from the campgrounds around the country and sent them to te company.

A local plumbing company had an issue with a ford van that I guess Ford or the dealership couldn't fix. I don't know the details. What I do know
is their business was on a major state route across from a grocery story.
So they stuck a giant lemon on the side of the van and left it parked out front by the highway. Big sign saying Ford won't take their lemon back.
It was resolved, because the van disappeared and they still run ford vans.
2 years from my original post and I just saw this same truck the other day. I tried to snap a photo again but couldn't get a clear shot. Apparently no one wants that truck. Haha!
I know people have issues with all brands of cars and trucks, but I feel this guys' pain. Several years ago I owned a really nice looking Suburban. Never in my life have I ever even heard of a less reliable vehicle. The laundry list of breakdowns reads like a parts list for the thing: 3 transmissions (before it ever towed anything!), rear A/C unit, 3 alternators, 3 batteries, steering speed sensor, water pump, fuel pump, heater hose (discontinued by GM !) heater hose manifold, intake manifold gasket, sound system, drivers power seat (twice), 2 distributer caps (yes, really) and an electronic brake controller and master cylinder. I sold it to the very first person that had a reasonable amount of cash (a white supremacist fresh out of prison) with about 147k miles on the clock. I bought a V10 Super Duty and aside from kicking out a spark plug ($200 to repair) it has never given me a moments trouble Nothing. Ever. Same with every Ford I have ever owned. I work with a bunch of Dodge guys who are constantly asking me when I'm going to sell it and get a real truck. One has a 2012 Ram (even Dodge won't put their name on it) that has less than 50K miles on it has a perpetual CEL and now needs ball joints, and the interior parts break like they were made out of peanut brittle, yet he's still bad-mouthing my Ford. Ignorance is bliss...
sand man is on the money!! before my father in law gave me this truck every ford i owned gave me problems my first ford a 97 f150 with the 4.2 v6 little did i know i was just a teenager but the guy who had it before me ragged the truck out and i never used the internet to research on the truck and come to find out it had a recall on the head gaskets but i didnt find that out till the engine hydrolocked and after i got my truck fixed the transmission fragged out while going 70mph down the interstate.
my next ford was a 2007 ranger and it had small problems that kept the truck broken down it had the 3.0 v6 with 4.10s in the rear it was 2wd and got horrible gas mileage on the interstate because the poor little engine was running about 4,000 rpms just to stay at 75mph. my next ranger was a 2004 and leaked oil and transmission fluid every where and after that ford i vowed to not buy another till i was 25 then i bought my 1999 f250 with a 7.3 and that truck was in great shape body wise and interior but i didnt know it had leaking injectors untill i was going down the interstate at 68mph per the gps and slung 5 connecting rods through the oil pan.
when my father in law offered me the f250 i am driving now it took me 2 weeks to think about taking it. i was very greatfull for the offer but very nervous about what i might be getting myslef into for the fact the truck was never really taken very good care of. and i knew my brother in law when he had it beat on the truck every time he drove it and they did not really maintain it. they took it to a shop who in my opinion did half a$$ work because they were always having to take their vehicles back to them to re fix the same issue.
but so far (knock on wood) they truck has started every day runs great is consistently getting 14 mpg. which to me is not bad for a 15 year old gas burner 3/4 ton truck
had tons of issue with a new Nissan Armada including the latch falling out of the back hatch and it opening on the highway, the centerline ceiling console falling on my son and many more, it was our 8th vehicle from that dealer and they fixed stuff but it spent as much time in the shop as in the driveway and they would not take it back, finally traded it on a Jeep Commander and never bought another car from that dealer. I did however take every new vehicle I bought back there and show the new car manager untill the place folded due to bad management......the 4th vehicle I took to show him he greeted me by name and asked what I had bought this time!!
I had a 2002 Silverado 4x4, 4.8L auto. I bought it with 52K and I used it to run from Chicago to FL on a regular basis. Never had a problem with the truck other than some busted cords it the tires. At 120K my daughter hounded me to buy the truck, I didn't want to sell it, but wife said the kid needed a decent vehicle and to sell it to her, so I did. The first 2 weeks she owned it, she put almost 3K on it running from Rockford to Chicago with her pals. Fuel pump went out, I paid 1/2 the $800 to have it replaced. Long story short, in under a year she racked up 60K miles running locally, She changed the oil twice and rand the brakes down so far, the rear right caliper plungers were riding against the rotor. She completely trashed a fine truck. It's sore spot with me today when ever someone brings it up.
sounds like what happened to my father in law with his son. he had a pretty nice 2004 chevy 2500 6.0 gas burner lifted and he kept it very clean and took extremely good care of it. so when he could not climb into it anymore he let his son drive it.
in the first 6 months he fragged the tcase, burnt the brakes up, destroyed the front cv axles, bent a tie rod, cracked the windshield, and put his cigarettes out in the headliner.
the truck was trashed in less than a year and he sold it and made his son pay off the loan he had on it.
its a shame how some people are with vehicles
Wife and I bought a new mustang in 1998. Driving away from the dealer lot, brand new mind you, the CEL came on. I thought what in the heck...turned around and they found an injector harness plug had come loose.
Never had another issue with it. I will never forget that though.
The company I worked for we had all fords. our fleet guy got convinced by A Gm fleet salesman to try some of the 2010 2500 Trucks. So are company bought 5 of them to try out.
We had two that had lifter failures. One the bearing in the roller on the lifter got stuck and scarred up the camshaft, and the other one the roller came off and went and got caught up and destruction ensued from there.
One had a piston failure at wrist pin and the other two had constant problems with oil pressure. The real stinker was some of those engines didn't even have 65k on them. We had so much trouble with three of them they were sent to auction with under 80k on them and another that started developing engine problems at 125k that went to auction as well.
It was all 2500's with the 6.0 V8 LY engines. It seems these engines seem to have a whole host of problems. After this had all gone on we haven't seen a GM since in the fleet all fords again
