New Ford Van?

My wife came home from work and someone said Ford is supposed to replace the Windstar with a bigger van. Has anyone else heard anything?

Yeah, it's called the Freestar, and looks nearly identical to the Windstar.

New Ford Van?

It looks like its the same size as the Windstar. I was hoping they would Americanise the Ford Transit van and sell it over here.

New Ford Van?

The assembly plant in Oakville, Ontario has already changed their banner from "Home of the Windstar" to "Home of the Freestar" so it would appear they are building them now. I haven't seem the new van, but I have heard it isn't much different from the Windstar.

Cheers,
Eric

New Ford Van?

Awwww shoot! I was hoping they would bring back a RWD van!!

Well... I did not really think it was going to happen..

Freestar sounds kinda wierd to the van. Can anyone explain why it's called a Freestar??

I know Aerostar is called that because of its Aerodynamic design and I'm not sure about the Windstar. Explanation anyone?

Yes, I agree with everyone here, Aerostar should be brought back, not because it's a Van but it has style, power, size, and Economical.
It can be used for a work(cargo), and family means of transportation.
Aerostar is not just a Van, it's a body with the beautiful soul of a truck.
LONG LIVE THE AEROSTAR!!!!

Amen Brother Timothy!

I think they would do well to bring back a smaller RWD truck based van. I still see Aeros in service for a lot of companies. Mainly electricians and such, where they don't need the full-sized van, but need something more than the FWD vans can carry. At this time, the choice for a new one is limited to the Astro. I would like to see another one based off of the Ranger, with the 3.0 and 4.0 as engines (like the aero), and maybe the 4.6 as an option on the extended versions.
