reverse switch 3 on the column

reverse switch 3 on the column
Wow,
1 thing after another w/this truck. So I got the reverse lights working when I push in the switch. But, when I put the switch on the column it just doesnt correspond with the linkage. In reverse, the linkage arm closest to the firewall (the one that would push up the switch turning on the reverse lights) is down, while the linkage arm farthest from the wall is up and interferes with the switch. It looks like the switch works fine if the truck is in third (linkage arm by the firewall up (hitting the switch), 2nd linkage arm down.
Am I missing something here? Anyone have a pic of their set up?
