I need a master tech opinion!

Short version is I had a replacement hitch put on the truck. Truck never leaked fuel in the 2 yrs I had it. It now leaks.

Climbed under it tonight looking for a hose leak. Turns out that the tube extension is leaking where it mates with the tank.

Is there a fix for this other then replacing the tank?

I take it you have a poly tank.
I don't know if the Ex is listed on the DVDs I have.
I'll look and if I can post a breakdown or what ever they have.

No Love The DVDs don't say. They don't
even get into the venting with the diesels
like they do on the gas ones.
I even tried to pull a diagram up on line
of the tank and components and still no love.

Is it wear the fuel fill hose attaches to the tank? Is it anywere they were working on the hitch? I had a leak in that area everytime I filled up, replace the filler with one from rock auto and the problem was solved. Poly tanks are pretty tough, were the fuel pump module goes in the tank there is a trough that leads to that side of the tank, could it be running down from there? Does it leak all the time, or only when running?

I talked to a guy I bowl with that is a Ford tech tonight. I showed him the picture I took. He told me that it will require a tank replacement since it is the tube extension that is welded to the tank. The large filler hose attaches to it.

The insurance adjuster called my wife back today and they are going to setup the repair for us. The adjuster finally looked up what was involved to replace the hitch on the excursion. The body shop and the hitch/trailer dealer that did the work said that they did not touch the tank at all. That is against what the adjuster found out.
