I'm looking at an 00' Excursion in need of a few things.
It has a 6" lift more like 4" now, the owner says the springs are sagging, it needs new shocks and one front shock mount is broke?
It appears in the pics he sent that is it a dual shock set-up.
My question is to get the suspension correct, what needs to be done?
If I am to get it, is it better just to trash the old lift and buy a whole new set-up, if so any recommendations?
What's a nice lift that won't break the bank but not a cheap o lift either?
I plan to run the 37/12.50/16.5. Seen on another forum a guy running them on a F250 with a 4" lift and doesn't have issues. But i don't think he takes his off road either.
37's on a 250 with 4inchs, no he dont go off road, I hAVE A PROCOMP LIFT ON MY 350 SUPERDUTY, I run 35 toyo's and beat that truck, never had a problem. I dont like the double or triple shock kits, to much stress on the mounting points, no wonder they broke, you can get the proper shock mounts right from ford, or look on e-bay and CL some one might be getting rid of them cheap cause they just put duals or triples on. If you want 37's you need 6 inches, and I am going to recommend procomp, I love mine, easy install and hasn't sagged an inch.
Agreed on 37's not working out great, unless you plan on some cut-out flares. 4" on mine, 35's work well including when I take it off road. They get uncomfortably close at times though, especially with the front swaybar unhooked (wheeling only).
BDS has a nice 4" setup that a lot of members here are running, another alternative is CT Performance with their V/B-mod setup. Mine was out the door from Cary including Bilstein 5100's, all new hardware, 2" drop hangar kit, and an adjustable trackbar all around $2100 shipped - extremely happy with it.
It takes a lot to get all four springs to sag 2", unless it went on when the rig was new or it's an insanely cheapo setup.
Here is how I would like it to look. (37's or not)
IMO this is probably the best looking Excursion I've seen, clean and simple. The way it sites is perfect.
If I new who owned it and if it was a 7.3l I would just see if he was looking to sell. lol
I agree with you that bottom picture sure is a great looking setup.
The X you're looking at sure has a lot of brake dust buildup in the front wheels, so the guy hasn't been rotating the tires very often... makes ya wonder what other maintenance may have been 'neglected'.
Look it over carefully if you're serious about buying!

Sounds like a whole bunch has been neglected.lol But he's asking about $3,500-$8,000 less then most of the ones listed that I have seen. Also closer at only 3hrs away. lol
He said it does need pedestal o-rings as well. And also the right rear qrtr is caked with soot, so that tells me a few things as well.

Nice set-up. I was going to start another thread but I'll just ask you. You're the 2nd Excursion I've seen with that bumper, what brand or who makes it, I can't quite make out the decal.
Thanks
I'd be extremely wary if he's asking that much less than comparable rigs in the area. There's a reason it's marked down so low, especially with some minor upgrades. Soot isn't a huge deal, I leave my tuner in Eco 90% of the time and I have soot on the rear quarter cladding and bumper corner, it just happens. Granted a well done tune shouldn't smoke much at all, maybe until the turbo lights or when you lug it.
Well I say it's that much lower because most people are asking 1.5-2 times what book is. Book in good condition is $9119, the guy is asking $9k. Most of the 7.3l 4wd Excursions are going for $13k-$30k.
