Just looking for some knowledge in this issue and course of action. Thank you in advance.
2002 f250 sd 5.4 parked the truck last night with no issue, then this morning it would not fire it is cranking but no go.
I can here the relay engaging as well as fuses are good and there is no inertia switch in this modle. I do hear the fuel pump engaging although it doesn't fire it does try to fire from time to time but runs dead with in seconds. If i spray throttle body cleaner it will stay running as its being sprayed but the moment i stop so does the truck.
is my fuel pump just not up to the task anymore or am i over looking something.
How much fuel is in the tank? My gauge quit working just under a 1/4 tank. Of course mine is a diesel but still a f250. Are you sure you don't have the fuel cutoff switch behind the passenger side kick panel?
Tank is at 50% and according to ford the switch for fuel was not installed in that year and model due to it being super duty. Although I took Ford at their word.
Also i just tried to start it again fired up reluctantly 15 to 20 seconds then died.
Ok thank you all for your time and patience in this matter unfortunately I checked all the auto supply shops in my area (Northern Ontario) and they'll have to order a preassure gauge in for me. In the meantime I'll look for the inertia switch. Once again this site and members are invaluable source of knowledge.
