I think this is a fuel pump problem but not sure, Truck will start intermittently but when it won't start I don't hear the electric fuel pump noise. How do I go about checking if it is the fuel pumps or a sending unit? It would seem odd that both the front and rear pumps would go at exactly the same time. I have replaced the EEC relay and the fuel pump relay. Thanks to all for the help
Since it's a 90, it should (I believe) have another FP in-line. That could be the problem. But I'm not the most experienced at this sort of thing (driving around with 1 tank right now because one tank's pump is bad)........
You could have a failing "FUEL TANK SELECTOR SWITCH" or "INERTA SWITCH".
Start by checking voltage at the RED with YELLOW stripe wire connected to terminal #2 of the FUEL TANK SELECTOR SWITCH. The voltage comes from a fuse link, through the fuel pump relay, through the inerta switch, and to the tank selector switch. From there it goes to either the front or rear pump, depending on the switch position. (plugs) It is not likely that both fuel pumps are failing at the same time.
