fuel problem
I have a 1987 150 with a 302 and dual tanks. It just quit running. It has lots of spark and if i dump fuel in the throttle body it will run. Where is the inertia switch in it and where is the relay?
Does this truck have one fuel pump shared between the two tanks or does it have two pumps?
I dont know much about this year ford....
When you first turn on the key, do you hear the fuel pump on the rail under the driver's side door start? It should pump a few seconds to pressureize the fuel rail and then stop. Do you have any pressure on the fuel rail? Check the schraeder valve on the rail. Check the fuses for the fuel pump system. Is it the same problem no matter which tank you have selected?
Just some thoughts to get started. Good luck.
Hopefully you find that switch first just to make sure you don't chase your tail. You can always check the fuel pump by removing it, make sure all the fuel has evaporated, and connect a 12V source to see if it runs. I did that with my '88 Ranger trying to solve a no fuel pump start with first key on. Turned out it was a connection that came loose in the harness that ran down to the fuel pump.
