I want to get gear sets and lockers for my truck. It's a 1995 f250 and the door tag says axle: C9. Does anyone know what this means or where I can go to find out, thanks.

3.55 gear ratio with limited slip diff, with 6250lb capacity.
There is no hard and fast rule of which front axle Ford put under the front of the truck.
This argument has been hashed numerous times in recent and not so recent past.
FWIW...my Ford Service manual has service information for both MY95 front axles.
Well of course, the service manual covers the E-series and F-series. The F-150 had the Dana 44 right? Does it state that the F250 did too? I don't believe my 94' service manual does.
Yes, my Ford manual does show the Dana 44 for the F150 AND F250.
I will say it again...there is NO solid rule I have found to determine why one model F250 got the D44 versus the D50. Single cab/Supercab/gas/diesel/etc. there is no rhyme or reason IMHO. There are examples of most combinations sporting both axles.

Interesting. I wonder if Ford just had a ton of Dana 44HD axles on hand from the late 70's early 80's.
Perhaps someone else can verify that the MY1995 F250s were all D50 TTB, but I know earlier model years were a mix of both with no apparent rhyme or reason.
I apologize if my info is incorrect but I know the subject comes up from time to time. I know Brad is very knowledgeable about these trucks but Ford is known to throw us a curve ball too.
Best defense is to look at the hub size and/or look for stampings on housing.
ALL 92-96(+HD 97 F250s) 4wd F250s had the Dana 50 TTB front axle. It is that simple. There is no room for discussion on this. The D44 HD got dropped from the line up in 92

I agree, never thought that the OBS 250 had a D44. But Rla seems to have conjecture on that. It's the first time I've ever heard someone say they came with that axle.
