Axle type

And it looks like 1994 was the first year with D50 only front axles:
Is my Ford Service Manual incorrect? Maybe, it would not be the first time.
I respect Brad's input but there are times anyone of us are not 100% correct. Been there, done that, still wear the dunce t-shirt from time to time.
Has anyone considered the possibility that an axle was swapped out by a previous owner - for whatever reason?
we are talking about nearly 20 yr old vehicles here - stranger things have happened...
unless you, or a family member, purchased the truck new, and you know its entire history, anything is possible.
We recently purchased a 94 F-250 with a rather shady past - someone along the line turned it into a dually - possibly an axle swap in there as well - still need to verify that. The bed is a homemade flatbed affair that was improperly welded to the frame.
the air pump system has been disconnected - done correctly? still need to check all that out as well...the front suspension is in dire need of help as well - the front springs are arching the wrong way!
My point is that some people do strange things to vehicles - so on an older vehicle, whether it came a certain way from the factory or not is kind of irrelevant. Never assume a 20 yr old vehicle is still exactly the way it was from the factory (unless, of course, you know its entire history).
The OP needs to check the axle itself for some kind of tag/casting with model numbers to verify what he/she actually has.
