I have my 352 almost completely dismantled. However I have two stubborn issues.
1. Main bearing caps 3 and rear cap do not want to come free. any hints on removal?
2. Camshaft does not want to come out, any hints on removal? I read in Steve Christ's Big Block book that waiting until pistons and crank are out may help (better access). I have also put the gear back on and tried rotating it but no luck. Any other thoughts?
Well if there are no lifters left in then you could use a long hefty screw driver and slip it down one of the holes in the intake valley and leverage against a cam lobe. That's is what I needed to do 6 weeks ago.
Regarding the cam, lifters are out. I will try the screwdriver method.
For the caps I use the rubber mallet for all the other caps but #3 does not want to come out. The mallet will not work for the rear cap. It is held in by a "key" that is part of the block on each side. The cap will have to be lifted straight up. Any other thoughts?

Put your bolts back in the bolt holes and hold them up about 1/2 way down the bore; hold them up and toward the middle of the cap and use them for a handle. Move them back and forth while pulling up at the same time. This will also work on the rear cap; the "key" looking thing on the side is part of the rear main seal set-up.
