I am new to this forum and I am not sure if this has been covered but ill ask anyway. I have a 1965 ford f100 style side that was originally bought by my grandfather in 65. I have had it out in Western WA for about 2 years now and starting this summer I have had a few minor issues with it. First and biggest is that once the engine is warm 190-200 degrees and I park it for about 35 to 45 minutes it won't want to start back up again and it takes several cranks to get it to fire back up if it does fire back up sometimes it just doesn't fire up again until completely cold again. I have done a bunch of reasons for this but to me its almost like its flooding after I turn it off.
Thanks for any input
also any one know any fast and easy ways to calibrate a gas gauge I fill the tank up and my tank gauge will say empty and when I fill it back up it only needs around 8 gallons before its full again.

Welcome to FTE
Remove the sending unit from the tank, take the float off the arm and shake it to find out if there's gas sloshing around inside.
The float is made from two pieces of copper soldered together. Solder breaks down, gas seeps in, float settles towards the bottom of the tank.
The float (COAZ-9202-B) is still available from Ford, it can be bought at a discount from FTE sponsor horizonpartsguy.com (Horizon Ford - Seattle WA), but...
Carpenter (dennis-carpenter.com) sells a one piece brass float that'll never leak for around 5 bucks.

Sounds like heat soak to me, too. Before you try the spacer, though, make sure that the fuel line is not touching the manifold, your pump is in good shape and the lines, filters, etc are clear. Sometime poor fuel flow can turn minor heat soak into a major issue like yours.
