I almost broke mine the same way. I had watched the video a month before doing the filter and had forgotten how he did the clip. I was used to the old style clips that popped out, so I pried and pried trying to get it to come off. Thankfully, I re-watched the video before actually breaking the part. Some lessons we learn are expensive.
I KNOW how much of a ******* that part is to replace, I had to replace mine!!! It took me and a SMT the better part of 2 hours snaking that joker through.
Thanks for the replies on how to replace this, they helped me in my install.
I had noticed a diesel fuel smell in the cabin but did not notice any leaks until I backed up in my driveway after a 4 hour trip with the camper in the bed and pulling the boat. I was wondering why my mileage was so bad, lol.
I had to reply and say that I don't understand why m-chan68 and Tofan say it was difficult. What gives? For me it was a 5 minute install and so I just wanted to put that out there in case others need to do it.
I have my fuel filters changed about every other oil change and so I will be "reminding" the guys at my shop to be careful the next time I go in there for this service.
