Are you sure the hood is too wide Gerry? Might just be the fenders need to move out a bit, I had similar issues and the bolts holding the air deflectors had some adjustments left in them to allow the fenders to spread some.
Not a 100%, I do measurements across the two hoods I have and they are smaller by a strong 1/8. When I put the slides on for the front tilt hood the passenger side does not seat. Did not have this issue with the stock hood. When I push the hood down to close it sucks the hood in and it goes down but hits fender. I have had a couple other sets of eyes on it to get there thoughts and they came up with the same conclusion. I will be putting it back on this weekend possibly and we'll see. I feel pretty confidant that I have improved.
I'm sorry I thought it was the front of the hood you were having issues with. I had the same problem and these additional rods helped.
That is a great idea and if ya don't mind I think I will use that idea. Thanx for that picture you gave me a big motivation lift. I have been dwelling on this problem for quite awhile. Do those have tensioners in them?
I also was having gap problems in the front. I have done some notching on the deflectors where the fenders hit and elongated some holes so I believe those issues are gone.

I used the original rods and those brackets I took off the hood when fitting the tilt hood kit. I bent those brackets and reinforced them so now you can either spread or draw the side of the hood in and holds it's position.
Here is is where I am at on the hood. If it was not for my son I think I would be canning this repop hood. I added these rods that were designed by John Bates. They really helped a lot on the passenger side.
This area on the repop hood is in a great need of some work. If you are familiar with the repop parts these areas of spot welds are notorious for being sad, at least in my case. So I decided to try and alleviate this issues so it don't look like a cave between the fender and hood. I also did the area on the fenders they were worse.
This area had major issues I could stick my finger in the gaps between the spot welds. Made a patch similar to the hood welded, filler and a coat of e-primer
Shows the area where the fender meets the lower valance, really was bad in that area. This area I welded and polished than put a coat of e-primer on. Going around on the fender where they spot weld the fender to the inner support I filled with filler and a coat of e-primer.
Driver side is a shade better. Still more tweaking needs to be done.
Gap at cowl is respectable not sure if I will go after it. The hood tilts forward so don't need such a large gap. Where the hood parallels the fender, the hood is still up a touch still thinking about the fix.
Front shot of the gap from fender to hood. Also if you look closely at the lower front pc that is suspose to match the reveal on the fenders they don't and I am still pondering what t do there, the problem mainly lies in the stamping and when they spot the hood together, it is just plain off and will have to do some big metalwork if I decide to go after it. My son says when the front end is sitting on the wheels touching the pavement also when the grill is in it will be less noticeable. we'll se
Looking good Gerry, credit for that brace needn't go to me, I got the idea on here but can't remember from who, I'm thinking Charlieled.
I wouldn't close those gaps too much by the cowl, I did and ended rubbing off a bit of paint before readjusting the hood to make a bigger gap.

I will follow your advice, so far you have not steered me wrong
I ordered the front hood under section from Mid-Fifty, cut the section that holds the hood pin off and welded it to the existing front section. Basicly I just skinned the nose. This allowed me to align the new nose to the fenders and all lines match up.
