Dealer Flash PCM?

a friend of mine asked if I had the dealer flash the PCM since I've bought the truck. I told him no and I wasn't aware that I needed to. He mentioned that they can adjust variables in the computer for miles on the engine to get the most out of it at its current stage in life. Does this sound a bit fishy?

You can not flash the PCM Computer in a 1994 truck.

Well, you can flash it, but it is a REALLY BRIGHT flash accompanied by smoke!

Even if you could flash the computer on a 94 (you can't because it's an EEC-IV processor, however the EEC-V processors like on my 96 CAN be flashed) it still sounds fishy. What would you adjust? There are sensors on the engine so that the computer can adjust to actual conditions regardless of mileage or age.

The exact reason why I said it sounded fishy. I'm over 200k. I'll just breadown for a rebuild soon.
