1978-1979 Crew Cab build thread
Non-intercooled donor. Plan to intercool down the road when all the bugs are worked out
So here's the deal kiddos.
I want to ride it.
I want to drive it.
I cant deny it.
(thanks 2pac).
Then cardatheous had to bring me back down from the clouds.
Cardatheous-"While we are waiting on parts, we need to finish these brakes "
Unc killa (sitting in the cab making diesel noises)- "booo!"
But he's right. If you cant stop, whats the sense?
I only took a few of the before pictures, but I will spare you the boring process of removing, installing, and bleeding of the the fluids.
I did find out something interesting.
The disk brake conversion on the 10.25 sterhling used...
Brace yourself...
Chevy calipers!!! (Gasp)
Thank goodness for cast numbers on calipers. I thought the dude from years ago when I bought this axle told me they were e350 ambulance calipers.
Happy early 4th to y'all.
Hope to be back next Sunday (with all my digits and not in jail).
Love and diesel,
unc Killa.
And I got all my digits this 4th of July weekend.
And I managed to not get arrested for some serious (by our standards) big mortars.
And I even got some more work in on the truck that brought you all here.
So, as promised i snapped a few pictures of those calipers (not the dusty and custy ones).
Yeah, I need to run that spacer. Carrying on.
So shiny! And a chevy product. At least we got some woh nelly.
Kiddos-"Whys the tire off?"
Unk- "getting you caught up. At this point we were making the gas filler necks"
Can we all appreciate the fact (hint hint) that the truck is facing the other direction.
Can we all also appreciate those monster wide tires just fitting (ish) on the rack.
Love and diesel,
Unk Killah out.
Getting closer everyday. So many things to do.
For the kiddo's, I think maybe I should share that list?
Nothing to update at the moment. Not that there isn't much to share in regards to the truck.
Just been busy with one of my two heathens (huskies) the past week and a half.
One of my doggo's got sick. A glandular thing under her tongue. Thankfully not cancerous (now we know that).
Not a sad moment, just a close call.
Reporting back for active-duty duty here on the FTE forum next week, Sunday. Same channel, same day.
You aint going to want to miss the "s" show of a few mistakes we made, and rando occurrences
Don't worry, trucks fine
Shops fine (ish)
I'm fine.
We are all fine

Love and Diesel,
Unk Killah
Ford Trucks for Ford Truck Enthusiasts
So I get a text.
Hot land lord lady - can you come to the shop? Water is coming out of every door
Unk- how bad
HLLL- did I mention it's coming out of every door? All 8.
Unk- on my way!!!
Kiddos, no joke, ankle deep at least.
They shut the water off. A main had blown inside.
The kicker in a good way.
Eleanors og hood was propped against a roof support and the bottom was nudged on the ground at an angle, against my lift, with eleanor on it.
This saved the water main break from hosing eleanor, fab area, etc.
bounced/reflected off the hood and just coated my rubicon with flood waters that the top and closed windows withstood.
And another life lesson I'm sharing now.
Always put your tools away.
I've just started doing that. Luckily I did it the days before. Otherwise, I don't know.
Moral of the story, I think, is eleanor wants to live!
Or, don't throw or get rid of parts until the project is compete.
Or, just keep left over parts forever.
Idk, but either way, that could have been a disaster.
No pictures on this, as i was too busy sorting out what was doused.
Peace and tacos!
Unk killa
For those that know me professionally, I daily reduce risks to our employees. I look for unseen possibilities that would reduce even more risks.
For those that know me personally, i am always calculating a way to insure success.
And for those that know your pirate sided unk killah, hell yea, and screw you caution!
but none of those versions of me anticipated a water main break. We will chock this up to luck and happenstance.
Step 1. Unwrap a Macanudo.
Step 2. Use these cool little cedar sticks to light
Step 3. Uncorking the Vikings Blud (honey mead).
Step 4. Ask the kiddos a question
So before the question, a quick recap.
All this playing catchup, and guess what, we are almost caught up.
not done, by any means.
But I have a few videos to share to show you all who have endured the ridiculous amount of time it has taken to get where we are.
You know, the proofs in the pudding videos.
I have about 2 more Sundays of getting you caught up to real time.
Plus I owe you the list of mistakes that were made.
Plus a list of what's left to do.
That buts me right up to lake of the Ozarks shootout, but I know she won't be ready for that trip, none the less pulling my boat down.
So all that for a question.
Kiddos, you wanna see a cool video of the first crummy, not on a donor frame, powerstroke infused 1978 chooching after 8 years of slumber?
Trying to post a video (for me anyway) has proved cumbersome.
I think I need to create a YouTube channel to make it postable here.
and then all updates from there on?
or blog and videos?
or your ugly, stick to blogs and pictures?
was that one question?
Am I wrong? Thoughts?
love and diesel,
unk killah.
Would people enjoy the vids if you went through the effort? Sure.
Do I blame you if it's just too dang much to deal with to make it work it? Nope.
