Ok this might sound dumb but I need to ask. Here's the deal I scored three copies of the 1965-1985 Chilton's ford pick-ups book. I've noticed that the info for 1969 doesn't include the 360 v8 or the C6 transmission. Was there a reason for that? Im guessing that i'm just gong to be following some instructions for 1970 but I just found it odd.

Chilton manual FOS!
C6 introduced in 1968 F100/350's with 360/390's that were also introduced in 1968, 360/390/C6 used thru 1976. 360/390's cancelled at the end of the 1976 model run.

Are you on a "car" specific page maybe? 360's were truck only.
Nope on page 10 under engine codes it reds that the Y code (360) doesn't start till 1970. As far I know I have the C6 transmission because of the shape of the pan and gasket. the Trans code just states (G) for automatic. The Chilton book on page 14 states that its a C4 so I'm fully confused
I have one of these books too. It's similar to the one you have. I have found quite a few mistakes in it. It doesn't list the 390 for 1969 pick-up trucks at all. Instead, it lists the 391 FT engine, which AFAIK was never installed in f-100 - f-250's. It also lists the Warner T-85N as 1971 only. That's not as bad as another book that I have that lists the front band adjustment for an FMX at 10 ft/lbs instead of 10 in/lbs. IMO, It's a good idea to double check the information in these aftermarket manuals against a reliable source, like this forum.
I have a vintage Clymer which was copyrighted in 1979 and find it quite accurate. It even has the factory Ford wiring diagrams although the font is like reading a tattoo on a gnat's azz.
Here's one on Ebay for $17: http://www.ebay.com/itm/like/311106987654?lpid=82
My Chilton includes no information about the 300 engine and my Ford manual includes none about the 240, or at least very little. Can't quite remember. Funny how that works. They're near identical though so I can use the information provided anyway. Just thought I'd stop in to say you're not alone.

Floyd Clymer was the youngest new car dealer in CO history. When he was 11, owned a new car dealership in Berthoud CO that sold Cadillac, REO and Maxwell.
