I've had the Edge for a while now and selected the MPG Inst to be displayed in one of the spots. While driving on base with the cruise set at 45 MPH, the MPG Inst shows 80-99 MPG while the info center on the dash shows 25ish. Obviously something is wrong there.
When moving my CTS from the 2012 to the 2015 I definitely had to connect to Fusion and download the firmware updates. I would suggest first doing a factory reset on the unit itself before getting the 2015 update and then go through the initialization process when you first plug it in.
Were you guys able to get the same PIDs on the 2015 and newer that you had on the previous generation? I pulled my CTS out of my 2013 and updated the firmware using Fusion and installed it in my 2015 and it didn't pull up near as many PIDs as I had on the older trucks. Most of them were not useful at all. So far I'm just running ECT and Battery voltage.
It is my understanding that some things like instant mpg are a guesstimate based on various inputs from the ecm. Ford's is probably closer than the EDGE since the factory calculations are most likely taking into account gear ratios and such where the EDGE doesn't really know those specifics of each truck.
