Does anyone still have the original black IH CPS in there truck?
What do you have ?
How does it perform?
Does it pass the (CCT) cylinder contribution test .?

I have no idea whats in mine. I have so far not had the need to touch it.

Based on the many reports of failure I have read it sounds like
a case of when not if so I bought a spare to have on hand.
I bought a Delphi branded unit.
If I ever need to use it I'll let you know.

What's the CCT test?

CCT test (cylinder contribution test) is the change in rotational velocity at low engine speeds, it sensors the rotation of the cam shaft to put it in a nut shell.
you can do this test with a live data on your AE , KOER, cylinder contribution Perdels tests, this is the data that your CPS is giving out.

Blue,

I had my black CPS in my truck for 11 years or 180000 kms until this happened
The head Machanic was having a day off

I got a grey one now
I don't think it really matters.
When i had all my petrol Ftrucks I carried, points, condensors, spare coil ,So if it stopped, just swap the parts out
The CPS is all of this, carry a spare and bob's your uncle

Cheers,
Patchy

Yes i see the point Patchy 73, i do carry a spare and have just found these ELCHIN's CPS's (in the console as well) that are suppose to be better than the original black ones.

I all ways have a 10 mm and ratchet with me , and its a simple change out if the CPS chucks it in.

Impressive sight

Tow tuck driver 'I can feel the weight on the back'!

methinks 'thank Chris for that!'.

My CPS day. Black one out. Grey BW one in. A couple of times I got a miss. Ordered the Motorcraft one from Clay and fitted that.

I did have one random stoppage - instant restart, and have since put chokes on the CPS looms and earth leads behind the dash. If I get another miss I'll pull the wiper panel off and fit chokes to the wiper motor wires. Consencus is that the wiper motor electrical noise can drown out the CPS signal.

I carry a spare CPS and am confident I could do a road side change in < 10 mins

Good to see your truck fitted on the tow truck
Mine was a bit short
As I said CPS is a bit like points, coils, and condensors, and carrying a spare one will get you out of trouble
Old effie **** itself between Townsville and Ayr at two in the morning,
Coil gave up ,Had one rolling around in the tool box, It got me going again made to Mackay, got another one and the truck done fine
Cheers,
Patchy

Good to see you have it all under control , the swap out on the side of the road would be okay as it's only a five minute job once the motor cools down.
I have some ELICHIN's CPS's coming over from the US , there suppose to be better than the original black IH cps, will do some tests when i get them and report back with the results.
