Looks like you got a good stock thermostat....a rarity these days.

I'd be saving up for an oil cooler replacement in the near future though...EOT is 20* higher than ECT

This oil cooler was new two years ago 30,000 miles ago when we did the head gaskets. I just changed the sensors to be sure the temps are correct. I towed a 16' enclosed trailer with 3 Big bikes and gear fron upstate NY to Outer Banks NC and back and was seeing oil temps up to 248.

What brand oil cooler was installed? I know the Sinister's are known to have high ECT/EOT differentials.

X2... Looks like it's time for another oil cooler, next time tell them to run water thru it until your town runs dry. Make sure they flush with the old oil cooler in place.
I'm been seeing a lot of this lately, techs are doing a terrible job with the flush process.

I was doing 70 mph flat. Ive been seeing some big deltas and have been worried about it. When we did the head gaskets and stuff we flushed the crap out of everything and back flushed the heater core. Gonna have to hold out and do a bulletproof oil cooler when I have the money. What I dont understand is that the coolant filter has nothing in it. I didnt record the # when we were towing back from NC and hit 248 temps in the oil but how hot can we safely get before problems start?

check your cold-soak temps, it's "possible" the EOT sensor is off.
After sitting for a day or so, check the ECT, EOT, and TFT they should be close..

A few folks have had the bypass valve at the bottom of the oil filter housing fail thus all the oil is bypassing the filter/cooler.

You should DOUBLE check you have the FORD OEM Oil filter AND filter cap.

The eot and ect most measure via the odb2 port, your own sensor somewhere else would likely give different values. The top of the oil filter is before the oil cooler, the stock eot is, i think, after the cooler.

There were two folks a month or two ago that bought new oil filter housing/base and it resolved the wacky eot.
If i recall correctly, both/one of them replaced oil cooler and it didn't effect their delta.

The bypass valve isn't available seperately, nobody has posted a way to test it either.

Keep us up to date..

so in order to fix the coolant bypass valve you have to replace the oil cooler cover? We have re4placed all sensors both stock and both aftermarket.

I wonder... if the stock eot sensor is actually after the oil cooler, and the oil filter is before....if we could test by installing a temp gauge on one of those billet oil filter caps. (maybe make a jumper harness to move the stock EOT sensor to the billet cap, or use an infared thermometer on the stock plastic cap) We would have to know what the "normal" oil filter housing temp is first.

I bet Josh knows....
