I have a 2002, that I just bought, and it won't get any AM reception only FM. I pulled out the head unit and the antennae was plugged in, but thats about as much as I knew how to do.
Does anyone know what else I could try. I'm not sure where the antennae is located on the vehicle.
Can't help you on your reception problem but might be able to help you locate your antenna. If you have no visible mast or place for a mast to screw on to on the front of your truck yours probably has the antenna embedded into the passenger side rearmost window looks like a defroster.
My 2000 model has the in-glass antenna. The connector that goes between the glass and the cable was off the glass when I bought the truck in December 02. The result was no AM reception. The dealer had no idea, a glass place said they would have to replace the glass. I found a body shop that has soldered it back on for $45. I would caution not to try this yourself unless you really know what you are doing. Apparently you can heat the glass up too much and take the temper out of it or even crack it on the spot.
let me know what you find out. for extra protection, when the third seat is down in my truck, the car seat goes on the driver's side. that wire is just waiting for some 2 or 3 year old to tug on it!
Thanks so much for your help. I checked out the rear window and it was unplugged from the connectction in the headliner. Plugged it back in and I now have AM as well as a batter FM signal.
