Hey guys. I'm new to the forums, just registered today. I have a 2006 F-250 XLT 6.0 Diesel. Bought it less than two weeks ago. Has many upgrades and runs strong, except my climate control **** does not work. Set to hot or cold it just stays blowing cool air. Even when I turn it to a/c, I can hear it click on, but no change in the temperature. I've checked behind the **** to make sure it wasn't broke, fuses are good, and hoses are good. Other than that I don't know what else to check. I've been searching the forum but haven't found anything that's helped yet. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.
Do you have vacuum, you may have a bad pump or a bad line with a hole in it. Can you auto lock your 4*4 hubs successfully?
The other thing you can do is look behind that connection and see if you can see the valve in the line opening and closing when someone runs the switch. This way you can narrow things down.
What do ou mean by vacuum.? I'll be honest, I'm still young and have really only done bolt off/bolt on kind of work so far. I'm just learning how to actually work on trucks and fix the problems myself. How do I know if it's a bad pump or there's a hole in a line.? The truck has manual locking hubs but 4x4 works fine when locked in.
On the inner fender on the passenger side there is a small pump that makes vacuum which is what opens and closes the valves on the system. With the hood up, stand beside passenger fender, just behind the battery, on the inner fender, you should hear this pump running when the key is on, once it fills the tank it turns off. Whenever you change the settings, it uses up vacuum, so the pump will come back on. Verify the pump is running, then that the tank is holding vacuum. Since you have manual hubs, that test won't work, so you will have to do this way. If you tell me what you find, perhaps we can help? It's possible a broken vacuum line, pump not working, or tank leaking ect is your problem. Also, check that the hose pointed out above is pall the way onto the fitting.
Does it have good air flow?? I have been having a bunch of evaporator cores clogged up externally. I would be checking the blend door actuator. It's the box behind the glove box with the electrical harness on top of the black plastic. Just FYI,, if it stays cool even after ac is commanded on,, the ac isn't working. All air in the hvac system travels through the evaporator core first.
If the pump was bad, would it effect the air pressure on different settings.? I checked the hose above and it is all the way into the fitting. How do I check the the pump is holding vacuum.? As far as I can tell, the pump is running.
The air flow is fine. It was dull when I first bought the truck, and one setting didn't work. So I replaced the blower motor resistor and that fixed it. I'll check the actuator tomorrow. I'll also check the valve tomorrow. Too late and dark here now.
I know it's been a while since my last reply, but it seems like the valve was just stuck. Got it fixed and it's working great. Thanks for all the help!
