Nothing in my Dash looks like that video. I'll have to find that Cold Solder joint with my Meter. Don't have a Scope these days. I never thought I'd ever need a Scope again either.
Yep you have the machanel odometer, All of the howto's arefor the lcd odometer. Check the little motor that drives it. You could have a striped gear also. Totley differnt anamale
I found two Cold Soldered wires.
I'm guessing there is a 'one shot' circuit enabled by a Counter coming from the Transducer down on the Transmission.
I haven't looked to see if there are two Transducers. One for the Cruise control, and one for the Computer.
I'm not able to hold still, or keep my old Princess iron tinned. I may wind up looking at new 'parts' for this project.
Lord Mr. Ford, what have you done?
Passive Anti-Theft I don't think your truck uses a chiped key system. On the newer trucks like my 99 if you change the cluster i won't start and youed have to have it towed to the dealer to get it reprogramed.
Your Correct. In 2006 I called FORD and asked if my Truck had that?
NOPE!
It started with the hi end trucks in 1998.
I've thought about trading up to get that feature, but I like this old truck and it's working well!
I got into the PCB today with my Solder-Sucker, princess iron and magnifying PCB device.
I cleaned up two Tabs and resoldered.
I don't know what voltage that little motor uses? Do any of you?
That little motor is: "FDM-3 6701" but I couldn't find it on Google. I don't know the test pinouts or the voltage.
I found it! The little plastic drive gear came loose from the shaft. Hard to see, but even harder to reach.
Don't know what I'm gonna do about it right this minute.
