I have a 2000f 350I have a strong smell of rear end dope I have replaced the brakes and calipers and do not see any leaks why am i smelling a very strong smell....no leaks and pig is full?
I'm a little confused as well. Do you mean you were changing the rear brakes and smell differential fluid?? . I had an axle seal go out on my 97 250 a while back and I smelled differential fluid, but there was definitely a leak and it slung fluid everywhere.

I smelled rear end dope ( rear axle oil 80/90) I checked fluid in pig (differential) its fine good viscosity . While looking tires off I noticed the pads on rear needed replacing, upon further examination I noticed the rubber seal housing on pistons in both calipers we rotted, thinking that maybe some dot 3 (brake flude )had been leaking causing the smell.....I replaced all rear brake components and still have oder of rear end dope (diff.fluid )... Sorry I must be to old school for some of you....ie pig, dope..aah the good ol dayzzzz

Reason: spelling
There is a vent on the axle and you may be just smelling fumes from there.
Good idea... I seen some light smoke coming out around the rear tire it was definitely rear end oil....I'm thinking that vent might be plunged I will check that and let you know...on another note I love this site (new be) and the knowledge and the response time....thanks to you all hats off!!!!

It been known that "critters" will get into the vent and plug them up. Once on the road and your pig heats up, your dope expands and can create enough pressure to blow out a wheel bearing seal.
