divorced transfer case not workking
HI, i am going to look at a 74 f250 4x4 the guy said the T/C dont work.
i am asking for help , what are the common problems what to look at. are they easy to rebuild ?
manual 4speed tranny, can a married tranny and T/C be slipped in with no mods ? thanks you.

74, so the xfer case should be a divorced NP-203 ? Maybe the problems are a stretched drive chain, and stripped sprockets? Rebuild seems easy enough, but parts seem to be hard to locate here lately, cause lots of folks are looking for them. No worries, they are out there.
Or it could be a NP-205 gear drive xfer case, pretty much bomb proof.
As far a swapping in a married NP 205, not sure. But pretty sure you will need the adapter to on the back side of the trans. And the trans out put shaft might be different? And you will need a different cross member and d/s. That's a guess list.
Go look at it and use the fact the xfer is shot to get it at a good price? Then tell us what is is doing or not doing, and maybe we can help.
