my 1994 7.3 IDI turbo may have a stuck injector so felt a wise old bush mechanic. how do I test for that issue. smokes alot at start even when it is 18'C. smoke is greyish then puts out intermitant puffs of bluish diesely smelling . also sometimes on start-up she starts bucking like it is miss firing .
Thanks
Have an easy day
fill your fuel filter with atf. start it up and let it run for 30sec then shut it down and leave it sit for 24 hrs. Start it back up and see if it helps. When was the last time the injectors and ip replaced?
I have no idea what was done to the truck. I got it last year and been driving it since. done a couple of services(filters+fluids) but a couple weeks(maybe months) ago it stalled and then really started smoking at start up. what does the atf do?
If the injectors and the pump have never been replaced then the fuel system needs tuned up. But try the atf first to see if it solves your problem and go from there.
I get the same thing with my brand new 5.4 after my F-250 has sat for a day - I was kind of shocked when it first happened. It doesn't seem to be a problem though. I'll ask Canada Engines about it when I go in for the 300 mile check and oil change. I'll also ask them about the light ticking noise.
