f450 vs f350

Anyone know why the F450 rear GAWR is 9100 lbs and the F350 DRW is 9650?

how bizarre.i can't make heads or tails of that one brother.then again building a f-450 "pickup" isn't exactly one of fords most logical decisions to begin with so.that spec there however really makes it a mutt.
back in the day when the f-450 came out (87-97 when they were simply called "f-super duty") we had 11k lb rated rear axles.
i dunno man.i guess they're trying to push ya into the medium duty.my best guess.........edit; nope that's not it.you can apparently still get the "real" f450 which no doubt (i didn't look) solves the issue and you get as real step up in the rear over the pickups........doesn't answer your question why they built the f450 "pickup" version as a de-rated mutt though.......perhaps so as not to hurt sales for their real f450 maybe.
the f450 pickup will hopefully just be a flop and it'll go away.stay clear of it.buy the f350 drw or go right to the cab n chassis if you need more truck.don't support that crap.

Are we talking 2011-2014?

The F450 has more towing though.

2015 they went back to the 08-10 capabilities so not sure of the payload for that now.

The 2015 F450 sticker says 9100lbs. My 2013 sticker says 9650. I believe the 2015 350 DRW is the same.

Interesting on the sticker for the 2015 F450. I had read some articles that it was going back up.

Maybe then just concentrated on max towing for this only.

Aren't the axles themselves EXACTLY the same between the two trucks?

11-14 they were. The 15 is not and that's odd. My local dealer has the 2015 F450 pickup in stock, and as advertised it's got the C+C 10 lug axles with 19.5 wheels under it. How the axle would have the same rating as the D80 makes no sense, as I'd have to imagine its the D110 again.

Fantasy numbers.........

Ya know how to tell the difference between a fairy tail and a government report........??

The fairy tail starts out with: "Once upon a time"

The Government starts out with: "I'm here to help you"

Reminds me of my time in the Navy...
The difference between a fairy tale and a sea story was the "once upon a time" and "now this ain't no ******".
