I recently bought a standard cab long box that i believe to be either a 65 or 66 but I don't know how to tell the difference between the years. Looking at pictures 65's had fender badges that said ford f100 along the tops (the way mine was) and 66's just said ford. Can anyone give me some things to look at to tell for sure? pics of truck in question below
65 and 66 both had twin I Beams. Best way is to post a photo of your warranty tag riveted on the door under the latching mechanism. With all that info it will tell you all about your truck if it has the original door.
Yea, it's a 65, built in September of 64. This was built a month after the twin I Beam was introduced. August was the first of the 65's.
F10 = F-100
D is the engine code for a 352 V-8
K= Built in Kansas City
591576 is the consecutive unit number.
The rest of the plate will tell a lot more including original interior trim and more.
Cool truck by the way.
Thanks, only paid $100 for it.

This is not a Standard Cab.
Also missing are the Custom Cab nameplates that were originally located on the doors, just below the glass.
Custom Cabs came with stainless steel windshield reveal mouldings (present), anodized aluminum grille (missing).
Painted white front bumper standard equipment, chrome bumper optional.
I meant standard cab as in it was a two door. It was used as a parts pickup about 20 years ago and just sat since then, that's why it's missing so many parts. The front bumper was chrome, but I removed it since it was bent beyond repair.
1965 F100/250 fender emblems have FORD 100 or 250 above. 1966 F100/250's have FORD above and 100 or 250 encompassed within the emblem below.
From the codes stamped on the Warranty Plate, originally the truck came with a 352 2V, MX Cruise-O-Matic, 3.54-1 Spicer/Dana 60.2 rear axle with Limited Slip.
It was tu-toned Rangoon Red/Wimbledon White, seat was red crush vinyl & red ladder pattern woven plastic (Custom Cab).
The dealer that sold it new...ordered it from the Fargo ND Ford District Sales Office.

Thanks, while I don't plan to keep it original it's interesting to know how it used to be. Is there any value in a cruise o matic or should I just toss it in the scrap dumpster?
