I full understand this question is going to seem stupid and the though is "Really".
I've been trying to OHM test the female side of my 42 pin connecter. I am not getting any readings when testing the connector. Are you guys just using the pointed probes or are using something to put down inside the connector? I even took one of my older probes and filed it down to make it real sharp and still nothing.
Thanks Pikachu,
I was having a brain fart for the last 2 hours. It really helps when you put the probe in the right hole. I was off on the common plug. Da,
I find "Back Pins" are the easiest. They're stiff, narrow, sharp, and fit in the meter lead.
You can also make them from small Paperclips. Just shape them in the form of a "T" so you can clip your meter alligator clip to it.
Caveat: What ever you use, it should only be slightly snug in the barrels. Otherwise you may find yourself chasing down other issues after reconnection.
Suggestion: Since its not something easily removed, use some electrical contact cleaner on the pins and barrels and Dielectric Grease around the connection housing to keep moisture out.
The GPs don't run through the harness. The leads come directly off the relay, and can be tested at the VC connectors. The front two and back two pins on each side are the GPs, and you can just use the head as the other side of the circuit.
Sure, Your being to kind. I'm thinking, I was having more of moment as put by the "That 70"s show Red Forman to his son Eric all the time "You Dumb A$$". HA.
